As we continue to rapidly grow, we want to make sure you have an opportunity to meet the incredible people that are pushing us – and our work – forward. This month, we’re excited to introduce you to Blair Poirier, a North Carolina native, talented social media strategist and content writer.
Blair grew up in a small town right outside of Raleigh and graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She earned her degree in advertising and public relations and moved to Nashville following graduation to begin her career. She worked in social media marketing at a local marketing agency, where she learned about social media listening, led community management and created compelling social content before joining the Pierce PR team as an account coordinator.
Continue reading to learn about Blair’s favorite areas of PR, her top vacation destination and her must-visit spots around Nashville.
1. Describe your role at Pierce Public Relations. What has been the coolest thing you’ve worked on since joining the team?
As an Account Coordinator at Pierce PR, I manage social media channels and strategies and develop content and graphics for our clients across a variety of platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter. I also help plan and execute the monthly and quarterly email programs for several of our clients. The coolest thing I’ve been a part of so far is distributing several recent press releases to the media and beginning to foster relationships with journalists across Nashville and beyond.
2. Tell us a little bit about what made you want to work in public relations. What gets you excited about what we do as PR professionals?
I’ve always been drawn to public relations, specifically learning how to communicate effectively and deliver results to clients. I love how every day is different and how much of the job truly has to do with relationship building. It’s also a very exciting time to work in the industry since it continues to evolve in many different ways. I’m eager to learn the traditional aspects of PR, like writing bylines and press releases, but I’ve realized that successful PR professionals understand the importance of social media, website blogging, influencers, podcasts and more.
3. What is your favorite social platform and why?
My favorite social platform (and probably the channel I spend most of my time on) is Instagram. I see Instagram as a storytelling medium and enjoy the creativity and freedom you have to brand yourself or a business. There’s a variety of content, from videos, reels and live streams to photos, stories and more, but you can also capture and draw in your audience through compelling captions. I also like that there is a real hustle on Instagram between small businesses and influencers, and I appreciate the community that these brands create.
4. What’s your favorite place you’ve traveled to and why?
My favorite place I’ve visited is Costa Rica. I’ve been very fortunate to visit twice—once in high school on a mission trip and once with family. The two trips were very different experiences, but what I love about Costa Rica is their spirit of Pura Vida and the laid-back lifestyle. I am also drawn to the adventure of the beaches and the rainforest. Learning to surf in the southern Pacific was one of the coolest experiences I’ve ever had, and I hope I am able to travel back again soon.
5. What’s one spot around Nashville you think more people should know about?
This is a tough one because I am quite a foodie and am always trying new spots around Nashville. Most recently, I went to dinner with friends at Rolf and Daughters in Germantown, and we agreed that it has some of the best Italian in Nashville. I also love working and catching up with friends at coffee shops, and my favorite one in Nashville is 8th and Roast. I am drawn to the energy and the atmosphere at both the Sylvan Park and 8th Avenue locations, but also their vanilla latte—it’s my favorite.
