A dreamy day in Nashville for me would start with breakfast at Proper Bagel and then perusing antique/homegoods shops like Patina & Co, Southeastern Salvage or the Nashville Flea Market. I’d stop at Mitchell’s Delicatessant for a delicious sandwich and then head over to the Nashville Farmers Market for my weekly produce. I’d end the day with a fabulous dinner at Margot Cafe & Bar. Somewhere in there, I’d have to sneak in a nice stroll through Shelby Park and some quiet time at Ugly Mugs Coffee shop.

My ideal day off in Nashville would start with coffee from The Well, a cinnamon roll from Baked on 8th and a stroll through Centennial Park with my dog, Maple. I’d then head to a local farmers market – preferably the Wedgewood-Houston Farmers Market – where I’d definitely spend too much money on local goods. I wouldn’t leave the market without a burger from the Bad Luck Burger Club truck and a bouquet from Amelia’s Flowers. After that, I’d meet my friends at Diskin Cider for drinks and board games before walking over to Dicey’s for the best pizza dinner. To top off my day, I’d head over to Hillsboro Village and enjoy a scoop of dark chocolate ice cream from Jeni’s.

My perfect day in Nashville would start with breakfast at the Loveless Cafe. An entire plate of biscuits later, I would make my way to Percy Warner park for a brisk hike overlooking the Nashville skyline. After that, I’d make a quick coffee stop at 8th and Roast before hitting up the Nashville Farmers Market in search of fresh produce and new plants to add to my collection. My evening would be spent in Edgewood Village having dinner at my favorite Italian restaurant, Bella Napoli. Depending on the day, I would either end my night with drinks at Old Glory or ice cream at Bobbie’s Dairy Dip!

An ideal day in Nashville to me is starting by grabbing a coffee at 8th and Roast in Sylvan Heights and then perusing either the Nashville Farmers Market or Flea Market at the fairgrounds to hunt for trinkets and local homegoods. If the mood is right, I’d then head to East to my favorite tattoo parlor, Electric Hand, and knock out one tat from my ever growing list. Then, I would celebrate with a mezcal margarita from Otto’s Cocktail Bar and hopefully hear some live music at either The Basement, Exit In or the Ryman Auditorium.

I’ve only lived in Nashville for a couple years, so my to-do and to-see list is fairly long. On a free day in the city, I’d likely be knocking things off of that list! Currently, my top bucketlist day would include starting at The Café At Thistle Farms, then heading to an art gallery (really want to see Chauvet Arts or Galerie Tangerine), getting tacos at Redheaded Stranger, drinks at Sixty Vines, and ending the night with some kind of live music (still need to hit up the Bluebird Cafe!).

As a kid, I grew up visiting my sisters at Vanderbilt and Belmont, and that meant lots of time to play at Centennial Park. Throwing the frisbee there is just as much fun now as it was then (as is having a picnic by the Parthenon). Dinner at Five Points Pizza would be a necessity, and I’d want to cap off the evening with a stop for drinks at Love and Exile across the river. And like a good Nasvhillian, I’d find the nearest Jeni’s for some Texas Sheet Cake ice cream before heading home.

As a Nashville native, there are so many ways I’d choose to spend the day depending on my mood. For a nostalgic lens, I’d hit the Donut Den in Green Hills for breakfast, our Saturday morning treat growing up. I’d hit icons like Dragon Park, the Belcourt theater and the Frist Museum. We also grew up watching/going to Titans games, so that would be high on the list, as well as a Sounds game. Elliston Place Soda Shop and Jimmy Kelly’s Steakhouse are some of my favorite old school restaurants that are still around. A slice of Noshville cheesecake would be the icing on the cake to end the day!

I may be biased, but Nashville is truly one of the greatest cities in America, and I’m so grateful to live in such a vibrant place. On a free day, you’d find me stopping for some delicious carbs at our neighborhood haunt, Crieve Hall Bagel (pro tip: get the blueberry with lemon poppyseed smear) followed by a visit to Barista Parlor for an espresso tonic, which is perfect for a warm, summer day. Fully caffeinated, I’d head to our second home, the Nashville Zoo, for some solid animal (and people) watching. After my daughter has stared at the flamingos for 20 minutes, I’d leave the zoo for beers at Black Abbey Brewery followed by takeout from Five Points Pizza because I love to both start and end the day with carbs.

My family and I used to come to Nashville for little weekend getaways, and I always dreamed of living here. Now that that dream is a reality, a day off in Nashville is truly like a mini vacation! My perfect day would include a shopping spree at The Mall at Green Hills, lunch at Restoration Hardware and an evening of line dancing at The Wildhorse Saloon. Sometime during the day, I know I would make my way to Jeni’s ice cream or Five Daughters Bakery for a little sweet treat!
Kara Weller, Communications Specialist
My perfect day off would start with a walk in one of Nashville’s parks or trails – McCabe, Percy Warner and Radnor are my sanctuaries. Then, I’d do a little shopping at the boutiques in Hillsboro Village (Posh is my favorite) and hopefully find a cute, new outfit. In the afternoon, if I’m headed to lunch with my fiancé, we’re probably going to either Waldo’s Chicken and Beer or Korea House. If I’m instead lunching with my girls, we’ll likely be meeting at Church & Union or Restoration Hardware.
