Why your team should celebrate big and small wins
The Pierce PR team recently celebrated our company’s seventh birthday, and boy, did we have a blast! We had our auras read at Tertiary Sight, indulged in a stunning custom cake by Baked on 8th, played a team trivia game (we thought we already knew each other so well…) and laughed until our stomachs hurt. Our gratitude for each other deepened, and we left with full hearts.

It’s a chance to see how far you’ve come
As a team that values growth, it’s easy to focus on day-to-day progress. However, it’s important to slow down and recognize the challenges we’ve overcome and opportunities we’ve successfully navigated before moving onto the next task.
Several successes of which we’re proud from the last few years include:
- Successfully surviving a pandemic
- Growing our team exponentially
- Becoming WBENC and GO-DBE-certified
- Adding new benefits for our team, including a bonus program
- Partnering with the best clients and creatively helping them surpass their goals

None of these achievements happened overnight. Most involved months of collaboration between multiple team members. Take the time to look back and remember the deepest valleys and the highest mountains. You’ve likely already accomplished more than you realized, and that should be celebrated.
It fuels excitement for the future
Reflecting on both accomplishments and obstacles you’ve navigated together can be a great launchpad for setting larger goals. Reflection not only creates a hunger for more but also sets the stage for new possibilities, begging the question, “What else can we achieve?”
When possible, involve your team as you prepare for new challenges and plan for growth. At Pierce PR, we have quarterly team meetings to review company financials, celebrate successes, review the status of existing goals, discuss and strategize for potential roadblocks and plan for the future. Everyone brings different experiences and fresh ideas to the table.
It unites your team
One of my favorite things about our team is how eager we are to celebrate each other’s wins, whether that means securing an awesome interview opportunity or summoning the courage to lead a large client call for the first time. However, there’s a unique connection that takes place when we collectively reflect on the bigger picture. None of our aforementioned accomplishments were achieved alone. They all required a unified, collaborative team focused on the same goal.
Regardless of whether you’re concluding your twentieth company anniversary or your first, keep celebrating the big and little wins. Each celebration doesn’t have to be a big production, but by bringing your team together to recognize your achievements, you will improve morale, strengthen teamwork and make your work environment a much happier place.
